2016 has started with strong demand for TCLâs printed packaging films with coating and lamination – supplied in up to five layers in OPP, LDPE, PET, paper and foils with an infinite variety of combinations.
Despite market predictions to the contrary, laminated films continue to demonstrate robust growth and managing director, Mike Golding comments; âThis is because laminates offer top print quality, strength, puncture resistance, barrier capabilities and qualities suitable for optimum performance in ovens, microwaves and freezers. Our brisk order intake for laminates may also be due to apparent recently reduced lamination capacity in the UK marketâ
Last year the company installed and commissioned a new Laminastar 4 laminator from DCM USIMECA at its new premises in Telford. This enhanced lamination and coating capacity has increased its supply of solvent-free lamination which is preferred by many customers.
High precision laminate coat weights and seal integrity facilitate some of the thinnest gauges of film â down to 10 micron OPP with perfect results. This offers the potential to significantly reduce laminated packaging usage for frozen and cooked foods, drink sachets, snack products and pet foods.
TCL Packaging was the first company in the UK to have printed, laminate, ovenable- packaging films comprehensively and safely successfully tested to 220°C, 450°F Gas 7, exceeding the requirements of current EU Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004. The company is now supplying high temperature lamination for ovenable, microwaveable and retort film applications.
