TCL Packagingâs strong double digit sales growth has continued as it finalises its half year financial results. The company supplies printed packaging films predominantly to the UK market.
The full financial year ending September 2014 saw TCL exceed the ÂŁ10 million sales barrier for the first time, capping off a record year with sales growth at over 10%. Sales figures have continued at this level for the first six months of the current year.
In 2014, the company moved to new premises in Stafford Park, Telford.  At 70,000 square feet, the site is 2½ times larger than its former home in Hortonwood. Within weeks of moving in, TCL was awarded a top A BRC rating by Lloyds register for their food safety systems and processes.
During the year the company made a seven-figure investment in new equipment including a third Uteco flexographic printing press, a second Rofin Baasel scribing unit and a fifth laminator – a new Laminastar 4 solvent-free laminator from DCM USIMECA.
The latter part of 2014, TCL saw âunprecedentedâ demand for printed and laminated packaging films as typical seasonal demands were expanded significantly by late requests for new films to meet a labelling deadline for the European food information regulations (FIR). This trend has continued into 2015.
Managing director Mike Golding comments;
âThere is no doubt that confidence is returning to the market and the economy with strong demand for printed films. Our investment in new plant and equipment was made at the right time to capitalise on this trend and weâre looking forward to a promising future as a leading independent company in the flexible packaging sectorâ
TCL was launched in 1999, and was bought out by the current management in 2012. The current growth phase is expected to result in new jobs and apprenticeships in the region this year, expanding the workforce by 10% to over 70 employees
